Flipped

Have you heard of an exquisite corpse? This experiment was the outcome of an exquisite poem and poster design made from legos and a letterpress.

Using a randomized order, each group member added a new line to what resulted in a strangely moving, egg-themed poem. From there we decided to title the poem Flipped, as it adequately described the back-and-forth process as well the flipped type on the letterpress. We then each composed a letter out of legos and implemented a final composition on a lego base plate set to type height. Finally, we chose our inks and metal type from the resources available in the UIC print shop. The completely unique result was premiered at the 2024 UIC End of Show, replete with process photos and a DIY lego printing exercise.

Special thanks to our instructor Pedro Neves.
