In collaboration with modheaven, I created the album artwork for their 2026 release, Rubber Scar. In the words of the artist, the synth-forward sounds are "a window into the meandering subconscious of another."
Aiming to blur the organic with the artificial, I played with transparent synthetic textures as well as light, water, and reflection on a scanner bed. At a high magnification, the droplets appeared as metallic and ethereal as the soundscapes themselves.
Using water as a general symbol for subconscious realms, I initially played with a film loupe to capture the world of the micro: lichens, moss, bark, etc. on the banks of River Park taken just after the rain had fallen one morning. Here are some not used process shots.
