Flor Do Real

This video is the outcome of an information design challenge of personal interest. Sound visualization typically displays cold and abstracted digital graphics. I wondered if rhythmic and melodic communication could be transmitted instead through banal and familiar objects. This project breaks down the instrumentation of the song Flor Do Real, written and performed by Sessa, one of my favorite contemporary artists. Guitar strings become yarn, the drums a knitting tomato and the melody a cascading line of buttons. Combining stop-motion and digital techniques, I aimed to make sound visualization more human. Although this work is unfinished, I see it as a seed of blossoming potential.
