Flor Do Real

2024 | Stop-motion Video

This project was an information design challenge. The subject was a single song called Flor Do Real written by contemporary artist Sessa. I chose to represent musical information through the movement of banal objects lying around my home. The choice to translate the guitar strings as yarn, the drums as a knitting tomato and the notes of the melody as buttons struck me not only as funny and joyous but also as intuitive. Using simple and familiar objects helped me break down the rhythmic and melodic changes. Information design often feels cold and alienating data as data is abstracted. This process was an effort to make abstraction endearing and human.
